What to bring

Here is a comprehensive Packing & Gear Guide customized for this specific combo trip. Because your guests are transitioning from freezing mountain altitudes to warm safari savannas, clear advice on packing in layers and managing luggage is crucial.

    Packing & Preparation Guide

Since this itinerary combines a high-altitude mountain climb with a savanna safari, smart layering is key to staying comfortable without overpacking!

Highly Recommended & "Nice to Have"

    • Multiple Thermal Layers: At Kibo Hut and Uhuru Peak, temperatures drop well below freezing ( -5°C to -15°C / 23°F to 5°F). Heavy thermal base layers, a fleece, and a windproof down jacket are essential for summit night, while lighter layers work best for safari mornings.
    • Swimwear: After 5 days of dusty mountain trails, guests love relaxing in the swimming pool at the safari lodge on Day 6!
    • High-SPF Sunscreen & Lip Balm: At high altitudes, UV intensity is severe. High-protection sunscreen, UV sunglasses, and moisturizing lip balm with SPF are essential.
    • Trekking Poles: Highly recommended for saving knees on the long, steep scree descent from Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut.
    • Headlamp (with Extra Batteries): Crucial for the midnight summit push and navigating mountain huts at night.
    • Buff / Gaiter / Bandana: Excellent for keeping dust out of lungs on both the dry mountain trails and open-window safari game drives.
